Our ply fronts and worktops are constructed from birch plywood sourced from an FSC-certified supplier.

Awareness of the health risk that Formaldehyde poses has grown in recent years which is why glues and resins used in man-made wood products have been greatly improved. Formaldehyde is naturally occurring in all wood so 'formaldehyde free plywood' refers to the glue that has been developed rather than the wood itself. Our Birch plywood is rated as E1 'very low formaldehyde release'.

Volatile Organic Compounds or VOC's are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids and are found in thousands of items including as ingredients in household products, soft furnishings, building materials and office equipment. Some VOC's may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Over time the gases disperse into the atmosphere so it's difficult to give a definitive answer on the VOC or Formaldehyde content in all of our products, however, our suppliers have some information on the Green credentials of their products in the links below.

Formica have data sheets relating to their LEED and BREEAM here http://www.formica.com/en/uk/sustainability/green-building-assessment and a page on their Greenguard accreditation http://www.formica.com/en/uk/sustainability/green-guard-indoor-air.
